Love Bedford High Street

Sponsored by Bedford BID

Visit Bedford High Street to not only see the wonderful businesses and hospitality options that we have all year round but also to admire the display of the Festival of Motoring.

Successfully debuting at the 2022 Bedford River Festival, the Festival of Motoring wowed the crowds with exceptional vehicles of all ages and types. These will be found not only on the High Street, but also on St. Paul’s Square, Riverside Square and on Harpur Square. Remember if you want to see these vehicles in motion then the Festival of Motoring will depart the site at 5pm both days.

New for 2024 will be a physical theatre production of CODE in Harpur square at 12pm and 3pm both days, more information below.

Town Bridge is known for being an ideal location to view the river activities, and the bridge will also host traditional bands performing in our ‘Bands on the Bridge’ area. Pull up a chair and relax to some rousing classical tunes performed by some of the best bands in Bedfordshire.

CODE – by Justice in Motion – Harpur Square, 12pm & 3pm on Saturday and Sunday

The phone vibrates… a message… times, numbers, deals… and a warning. All in code. So young and so troubled. At home, in school, on the street. There’s no way out - is there?

CODE, Justice in Motion’s urban odyssey into County Lines and Knife Crime, is a spectacular blend of physical theatre, parkour and trials bike stunts with live rap and music. On an urban playground, skilled athletes and performers show what is happening to our young people exploited by organised drug crime gangs.

This story could be happening right now. See inside the County Lines through up-close, dazzling, adrenaline-fuelled, audacious story-telling inspired by true case studies.

The 2024 River Festival will include countless river activities, eight live music and performance areas, the Sports Island, Family Island, Green Earth Village, the wonderful offerings of the Festival Market, Bedford Festival of Motoring, plus so much more!

Make sure you keep the 20th & 21st July 2024 free in your diaries so that you don’t miss out on any of the action.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for on this web site, please contact the Events Team at events@bedford.gov.uk to discuss how you can get involved.
